The Junk Parlor

and The Junk Parlor was created

Back when I decided to go on this adventure of selling junk, one of the first tasks was to create a name.  I asked my mom about it and she mentioned always wanting to have a shop in my dad’s milking parlor. Yes, I grew up on a dairy farm.  When I was in college my dad retired from milking, but continued farming.

I think at this point I’d already thought the name should have junk in it… that’s what I’m selling, junk.  Junk someone didn’t want, junk someone collects, junk someone repurposes, junk rescued from the trash, the scrap yard, junk.  Junk that when displayed becomes beautiful.

So, I married the two together, I thought Junk Parlor had a good ring to it.  Once The Junk Parlor had a name, my adventure started.

  2. Hi, from East Topsham, Vermont! I love, love love your shop, actually, love everything I’ve seen on your page. I am so inspired !! If you have 3 seconds, okay… more like 5 minutes, you should look up ASMR. Junking and even LOOKING at junk… triggers this euphoria in the center of my soul….it’s not an illness it’s Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. I love creating vignettes, too, Your page sends me! Thank you so much!

  3. I’m just getting started on my own adventure. I too am a former teacher. In my case, retired. My daughter is also a teacher. In her case, she left the profession. I began thinking about what we could both do, that spoke to our shared interests. We both love beautiful things. And, we both enjoy staging rooms. So here we are, fresh into a beautiful shop in…a flea market setting. I am so excited to find your website and facebook page. Kindred spirits for sure.

    1. How exciting! The world of teaching has definitely changed! Best of luck in your new adventure with your daughter.

  4. Hello, I have A home based business named… Trese’s Treasures from the Heart❤️
It’s been a little over 2 years now. I like to Repurpose, Recycle & Redesign jewelry and small gift items. I like to inspire people s asNd show them that someone’s trash can become someone else’s treasure. It all started out as a hobby, selling gift mugs, baskets, floral arrangements. Now jewelry. I love fleeing, antiquing, thrift shopping and junking. I wish you the best . Your shop is lovely and I love the name. ( that’s what caught my attention) Be blessed??

    1. Why thank you! I love junk and my mom always thought she’d have a shop in my dad’s old milking parlor…hence the name. It’s great getting to do what you love. Congrats on 2 years!
