Good morning friends! This morning on #coffeetalk with Brooke & Hilary we had a great time chatting about our plans for the day and what we’d been up to since the last time we’d talked!
I have been busy going room by room trying to deep clean, purge, and make repairs! There are literally things that didn’t get done 15 years ago during the remodel that have still not gotten done! And that folks, is why you never want to move into a house until it is finished, 100%, every little thing! Because if you don’t, I fear you’ll be like me and keep putting it off…for FOREVER!
So l did start tackling a few projects over the past few years, like cleaning and painting Kash’s bedroom, painting the master bedroom and updating our bathroom. But, painting is more like redecorating, not tackling projects. PS. I hope to get a post up about Kash’s room soon!
So, some things I’ve done in the past month… I hung things on the wall that had just been piled up waiting in Kash’s room. I also reattached a trim piece and replaced his lightbulbs. Poor kid had one little chandelier bulb working for the whole room!
The kids upstairs bathroom still needs some work, but I deep cleaned the faucets, the floor, the window. Removed and recaulked the shower. All that’s in addition to what I talk to Hilary about.
Since #coffeetalk I worked on Kyler’s floors and I am very impressed with how they cleaned up! I ended up using THIS. Now I think I want to use it in every room! Our whole house is 100 year old wood, except for the bathrooms and our master.
In Kellen’s room I was hoping to get by with just touch up paint, but now that it’s dried I can see that I’m going to have to paint everything. Oh, well! THIS is the color and I absolutely LOVE it!! His room is a disaster because all of his furniture is at his college apartment. So, I’ve cleared off a dresser to bring in from the shop and then I’m getting a bed frame from my brother-in-law, so his isn’t just sitting on the floor.
Speaking of furniture, I’ve been listing pieces on Facebook Marketplace. Since most of my sales are coming from online, I ship everything, but furniture I don’t ship, so I figured posting it on Marketplace was a good route since my shop is only open by appointment. HERE is my Facebook Marketplace if you want to see what is listed!
Hubby also listed some smaller items and for the first time ever offered shipping! One thing actually sold, so I shared how that whole process worked. We offered shipping on a whim and figured we’d figure it out as we went! Turns out to be pretty simple, especially if you just print your own shipping label, which is my preference. That way I can use my favorite shipping app and get the shipping taken care of more inexpensively.
Did you know I have a little mini lesson on shipping? Check it out HERE.
Another thing on my to do list is to go through all of the things I’ve kept in totes and never unpacked since moving from Kansas City. It’s only been sitting for 15 years!! But a lot of it is stuff that is sentimental, kids things, my things and Matt’s things from growing up. My plan is that everyone gets 1 tote for scrapbook stuff and that’s it! I’m probably going to be purging quite a bit. I don’t know why, but I’m not very sentimental. Matt on the other hand is, so we’ll see if he let’s me get rid of any of his things!
So while I’m working on all the little projects around my house, Hilary is meeting a up with a friend to spend the day thrifting in Ames! I can’t wait to here how the day went and all of the things she found! If you watch/listen to the #coffeetalk, then you’ll know that it was snowing in Des Moines, Iowa and down here in Centerville rain and snow were to come throughout the day!! Such craziness!
Normal temp is 59 and we are sitting more like 30’s most days…no sunshine, wind and rain. Spring is supposed to be happy, fun and bright and that is definitely not what any of us are feeling with this weather!!
We also chat about her basement wall reveal! In a past episode she shares how wallpapering was not successful, so she resorted to the next option! And her stepdad is going to be working on the other walls soon!
Hilary has thought about moving and we are thinking about building, but for both of us, prices are crazy and the Des Moines area continues to grow in leaps and bounds! Like Hilary said, who has $400,000 cash lying around! She was getting beat out by cash offers!
Go Picking With Me
I am also in the full swing of spring sports with the kids. Tumbling is winding down, track and soccer are just starting. With one in middle school and one in high school that makes for a lot of traveling! Most of the time we are averaging an hour or more of driving to their events! Do you know we have 2 trucks? Need I remind you what gas is costing right now! Yep! Good times.
We appreciate you listening each week! Join us LIVE at 6:30am next week on my Instagram or wait for me to post it here!
Have a great week friends! Wether you are drinking coffee like me or Bubbly like Hilary, hit play and listen in!
