Vintage Handmade Paper Mache Cat Owl Hummingbird
Your choice of handmade paper mache cat, owl or hummingbird with flower. I picked up a lot of handmade paper mache animals at an estate sale. The story was that the gentleman would sit at his office desk and between work/clients he would use his office labels to create sculptures. There are multiple listings of paper mache animals from this lot on the site. Most of the labels are dated 1990 or 1991. I don’t know if you would technically call this paper mache as he seemed to use the label adhesive to secure the labels and create the folk art. As the label adhesive didn’t hold, scotch tape was added. I used hot glue on a couple pieces and will denote which ones.Â
- Paper mache cat. I love the look of this cat! I did use some hot glue to tighten some labels around the cats neck. Please see photos. There has been some scotch tape used. Approximately 5 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ x 8 3/4″ tall
- Paper mache hanging owl. The story is this owl hung in the creators front window for years. I replaced the rope he used with fishing line, but this owl will need to be hung. The owl belly or underside seems completely intact white the back side of the wings there are missing labels. I did use hot glue to make some minor repairs to loose pieces. The owl is carrying a fish and has what I believe to be straight pins for eyes. Please see photos. There has been some scotch tape used. Approximately 9″ head to tail and 17 3/4″ wingspan
- Paper mache hummingbird drinking out of a flower in a mug. The mug is very heavy. Some hot glue was used to repair flower petals. Please see photos. Approximately 12″ tall
