I finally made it!! I met Chanel at the Iowa State Fairground Flea Market a few years ago when we first moved up to Ankeny. I have also shopped with her at What Cheer Flea Market! Now I’m shopping a new antique shop she is running in the Merle Hay Mall!
This shop is so cute and packed with cool old junk! Chanel curates her pieces beautifully and creates fun, vibrant displays. I absolutely love layering, and she does an amazing job with it! She piles things in baskets and stacks them on top of each other everywhere you look!
Chanel has had multiple storefronts in her lifetime, but this is my first time visiting Antiques for Freaks & Geeks! To shop this location you will go in the main door on the north side of Merle Hay Mall! You walk past Five Guys and a pretzel place…both smell absolutely amazing!! and then when you get to the intersection turn left. She is just a couple spaces in on the north side.
Heads up! When you visit the shop, you’ll notice that most things won’t have prices. This is one of my pet peeves, but Chanel is working on it. Don’t hesitate to ask her for prices—she wants to keep things moving so the shop always feels fresh and new. In fact, a customer mentioned that while I was there!
He said he loved that every time he stopped in it looked completely different and that kept him coming back!
