You Can Make Chalkboard Art

One thing I have learned over the years is that different things intimidate different people. For example, I know a lot of people are intimidated to create chalkboard art. They aren’t confident with their handwriting and really don’t know where to start. With a few tips, you can make beautiful chalkboard art too.

I’m slightly embarrassed to say that my chalkboard has looked like this for a couple years! I look at it often and think that I should change it, but I always pick something else to work on instead.

Inspiration

Now that I have a reason to change it, I thought it’d be a good time to explain to you how I go about creating chalkboard art. First, I use Google or Pinterest to find a design that I like.

Practice

Next, I practice a bit on a piece of notebook paper or on the chalkboard itself.

Guide

After that I mentally layout where to start and what size to make my letters. If you don’t want to do this in your head, use the chalk to give yourself lines to use as a guide.

Finishing Touches

Then, I start off lightly creating my chalkboard art. I go back over the lines and this time, widen the downward strokes. And then, I will go back and fill in between those lines.

**Note that the video was originally done LIVE on Facebook, but has since been edited and added to YouTube so that the words read correctly.

Remember, this shouldn’t be intimidating because you can always take a wet rag and erase what you create. Then, once that is dry, you can start again. If you get shaky, or don’t like certain lines, you can even wet a cue tip and touch up the chalk lines that way.

It really is that easy!
