The Junk Parlor

about me

I’m Brooke Johnson, mother of 4, one a little angel. I’m married to my best friend, Matt and we live in Centerville, Iowa. I started out in education, my mom taught, mother-in-law taught, husband taught, and I taught. But, I knew that wasn’t my calling. I have always loved rearranging things and styling vignettes. I can remember growing up rearranging my room, over and over again. I’m grateful my mom let me! And that love for design led me to starting The Junk Parlor. With little knowledge of running a business, but a big desire for change and minimal debt. Did I mention I’m a penny pincher? I started off slowly, continuing to teach while I had booths, shop space, barn sales and set-up at shows. I read as much as a could about running a creative business. Ultimately my goal was to quit teaching and open a brick and mortar. It took A LOT of convincing my husband, but in February of 2016 I opened the doors to my occasional shop. In January of 2020, I moved my shop to the barn on my property and went online.  My shop is open by appointment, but my focus is now on shipping my goods around the US and teaching other dealers how to do so too!  Learn more about my coaching services HERE.

Our family moved to the big city in July of 2023. While my brick and mortar closed, I continue to share my love for vintage and home decor with online sales, decorating tips and DIY’s. Who knows what will happen next in my journey!
